What I Offer
Quiet Forge Software works with small and growing software companies with an existing product, to reduce deployment and reliability risks through practical DevOps assessments, targeted fixes, and ongoing senior engineering support—without the cost or commitment of hiring a full-time DevOps engineer. As a Solo Developer and having worked in small teams, I understand the resource limitations of those types of teams and aim to help other technical founders who are managing deployments make those deployments reliable and as secure as possible without the need to hire a full-time engineer.
My Credentials
- 15 years of software engineering and DevOps experience.
- First-hand experience building and marketing independent products. See here for the products I have built and maintain.
- Ability to explain complex technical problems clearly.
- A practical, founder-friendly approach focused on useful outcomes rather than unnecessary complexity.
- Experience with Azure and Akamai.
- Primary C# expertise, with experience supporting Linux, Windows, and Kubernetes deployments.
- Ability to review general networking principles and deployment practices on other hosting solutions.
Guaranteed Outcome
Every engagement guarantees a prioritized report and action plan , with a fix attempted when appropriate. The specific technical fix is conditional on access, cooperation, complexity, dependencies, and the agreed scope.
Boundaries and Limitations
- QFS does not modify production systems during the health check.
- Production changes are permitted only for a retainer client when the agreement explicitly calls them out.
- The offer is not penetration testing, a formal security audit, compliance certification, or a guarantee that the system is secure.
- Work that exceeds the 10-hour limit stops at the end of the engagement. Remaining work can become a separately priced fixed-scope implementation project or extension.
Problems I Solve
Pricing
My Process
I keep engagements focused, practical, and easy to understand. We agree on the problem, investigate the relevant technical context, and finish with clear recommendations or an appropriate implementation.
- Choose an offer and define the
problem
Select the service that best matches your needs and describe the deployment, stability, reliability, or security-posture problem you are experiencing. We will confirm that the problem fits the offer's scope, time limit, and technical boundaries.
- Provide access and prepare for
the review
Provide repository access and, when relevant, read access to the related infrastructure or deployment configuration. Please also provide relevant logs, error messages, deployment history, and a technical contact who can answer questions.
- Kickoff and focused
investigation
We clarify the desired outcome, identify the highest-priority issue, and agree on the investigation plan. I then review the relevant repository, configuration, deployment process, and supporting technical information within the agreed time and scope.
- Fix, recommendations, or both
When practical, I will attempt an appropriate fix, such as a pull request, development or staging change, or implementation guidance. If the issue requires more time or falls outside the agreed scope, I will explain what remains and recommend the next steps.
- Results and next steps
You will receive a prioritized summary of the findings, an explanation of the highest-priority risks, recommended actions, and follow-up options. Additional implementation work can be scoped separately, or we can discuss ongoing support through the monthly retainer.
What to expect
- Meetings count toward the selected offer's time limit. They are sometimes needed but let's keep them focused and efficient.
- Work is limited to the agreed repository, systems, and scope.
- I do not modify production systems through the one-time offers.
- Fixes are attempted when feasible, but depend on access, complexity, and available time.
- The service is not penetration testing, a formal security audit, or compliance certification.
