Quiet Forge Software

Nothing Fancy, just what works

What Drives Us

In a world where everything is connected, sometimes you find things that have no reason to be so, and the fact that they are leads to something being unusable when it should work just fine. My favorite example is below. This occurred during a storm that had taken out the electricity and all I wanted was a 30 minute timer.

Why I do Local First

Modern Software has Forgotten the Small Business

With everything moving towards subscription models, starting a small business can put you underwater before you have even started. Whether it is domain name registration and SSL certificates, or office products and accounting software, It's very easy to be paying over $100.00 a month in subscriptions before your doors are even open.

What We Do

We build tools, apps, and games. Simple as that. But we do it while moving back to software that prioritizes the user and the stability that they desire over subscription models, microtransactions, and other modern software practices that have taken priority over user comfort and experience.

Favorite Tools

Kubernetes

As a team of 1, any help I can get with redundancy, self-healing, and scaling is welcome. Kubernetes offers this in spades.

HLedger

A local first, open format, double entry accounting system that can also produce invoices and other financial documents. Everything a small business could want.

Obsidian

A note taking app that is local first while using a widely used file format? Sign me up! Also plays nicely with enterprise solutions that also use/understand markdown files.
